9800gx2 and psu

[x2 3600 rules sazakky]

If i got a 9800gx2 with a moderate psu such as this one:

would it work If I used a 6 pin to 8 pin converter with it.

Or would it be better to get a 4870 with a cheaper psu.

Erm... I'd suggest avoiding that (mostly because I've never heard of the brand and the page looks fishy) but the BIGGEST rule of them is NEVER skimp on the power supply. NEVER cheap out on the power supply. You will thank yourself in the long run, so I really suggest picking up a 4870 so you can avoid the microstuttering issue on the 9800GX2/3870X2 cards. The power supply that I would recommend is a Corsair 550-watt ($89) power supply, or even the PCP&C 500w ($79) that you'd be better off with instead of the one you picked out.

EDIT: I also noticed that you're considering a GTX 260 in another thread. Do you need help in making a decision for both cards?
