Today my new graphiccard arrived (Asus EN9800GTX), ofcourse it was time for a few tests.

Please keep this topic free of your hate against the 9 series and everything related to this.

These clocks are for sure not the highest possible, but I used the stock cooling, no mods, the standard drivers that came with the driver CD & at these speeds the card doesn't even hit 60C while playing Crysis!

GPU-Z
Test are run with: 800MHz core, 1250MHz memory (2500), 2050MHz shader

Crysis:
1680x1050, DirectX 9, No AA, Everything on high:
Average FPS: 52.05
Max FPS: 61.57
Min FPS: 32.61

1680x1050, DirectX 9, 8x AA, Everything on high:
Average FPS: 25.06
Max FPS: 34.10
Min FPS: 16.06

Yea, i probably will except for the fact that the 9800GX2 "only" costs 120 euro more since yesterday lol.

Based on your numbers, it seems that your quad core at that very nice clock speed is helping quite a bit.

(well, not to mention the 9800gtx overclocked a bit too, right?)

Maybe it's time for me to start thinking about CPU cooling and overclocking this e8400 a bit.

Trust me, it's not the CPU giving out those numbers, don't be fooled.

It's actually the substantial overclock of the card itself giving those numbers, I must also assume the guy benchmarked in XP since XP numbers for Crysis are much better, I assume the memory overclock helped a lot, with those clocks that 9800GTX has nearly the same memory bandwidth as a 8800GTX but it also features a MUCH higher core clock-speed.

I wonder if the 9800GT will also have 0.8ns memory, that might be worth waiting for but it will probably just be a 8800GT clone.

I've seen best numbers from vista (cannot remember whether it was 32 or 64) and dx9 IIRC.

The 174.74's are really good drivers, i got a few extra fps in World in Conflict.

Nice overclock but just becareful not to push it too far too soon, let the card bed in a little. ;)

A great idea to ask up front to keep this thread free of 9800 GTX hate posts. I'd have BOLDED the request. Enough already!! Go do something else haters!! :|

We need a 9800 GTX thread free of negativity, somewhere to talk about this card and post results. I hope others will contribute. I'll be contributing as soon as mine arrive from step-up. I plan to OC them to at least 800/2000/2400.

Questions.. the Crysis benchmark is completing with no lockups? Rivatuner to OC? If so, did you have to edit .cfg file to unlock sliders? Details on fan profile, what's it set to at stock? Did you bump?

~No on these settings it doesn't lock up at all! :)
~Yes Rivatuner
~No config tweaking
~80% fanspeed

You can't upgrade the voltages by a bios mod tough, so unless you solder this is the max OC (for me).
Most of these cards get between 800-860 core, 1200-1350 memory & 2100-2300 shader, so mine is pretty good in overclocking.
I am very cpu limited in 3dmark06 tough, my quad on 3.87 to 3.9GHz added 300 3dmarks. :(

Nice! I wouldn't think you're "very" cpu limited though... :D

where can you change fan speed in rivatuner? i can't find it. i read a tut on it, and the menu they showed it under wasn't in mine...

Wow I thought the 8800GT which I have was a good card. But aftering reading your review maybe the 9800 GTX is much faster. I mean I play crysis at the same res as you 1680x1050. But if I even try to run with everything I high, I get like 20-30 fps. If I add 8x AA like you said you did, forget it, I get like 5 fps :-( I have to set everything to med. and no AA then I get like 40-50 fps. I didn't think the GTX was that much faster but maybe it is..Is the GTX that much better when AA is applied..

Hi, since a while i got me a pair of these 9800gtx asus (my 1st experience with sli). Since crysis needs all the power u can get, i tried OC'ing these 2. With sli enabled i only manage to get coreclock 780, memory 1180, shader 1820 ... Is it normal i can't get higher clock on sli? Havent tested it out yet with a single card though. When I apply the clocks mentioned here, I wouldn't even be able getting crysis running. I use latest rivatuner.
