Actually the 9800GX2 has two 8800GTS 512 cores underclocked to 600Mhz Core compared to 650Mhz of the 8800GTS.

Here is my understanding: 9800GTX SLI > 8800GTS 512 SLI > 9800GX2 > 8800GT SLI and so on.

I'm running 2 factory oced 512 GTS cards (ASUS EN8800GTS TOP - 740MHz). I believe that they are a bit faster than 2x std clocked 9800GTX cards but even so a std clocked GTX is always gonna be faster than a std clocked GTS so anyone saying that the GTS is faster than the GTX is full of BS.

GTS's in SLI is a very, very good setup; but 9800 GTX's can oc a tad bit higher and offer slightly high mem clocks. Marginal differences between the two setups, except for power and card size. Two 6-pin connectors for 9800's and 10.5" length.

IMO the GTS is an outstanding card in single or dual. It's a great balance of price, power, power requirements, low temps, and low noise.

I totally agree with you. Power consumption was an issue for me and the GTS is much better than the GTX when it comes to that. The performance/cost - performance/power consumption ratios all favor the GTS and the performance difference between the cards is indeed marginal but it?s there. The GTS is clearly a better/smarter buy in all aspects but it still can?t beat the GTX. I can?t understand why somebody would go all the way as to claim that it does.
