9800GTX Related Question For Experts

I need help on a very important question. I want to ask that, as far I know 9800GTX is a PCI-E 2.0 card, & Abit IP35-E supports only PCI-E 1.1 (pls correct me if I am wrong) , So can I use 9800GTX in Abit IP35-E. If yes than will I experience any performance drop if yes than how much performance drop can I expect by this & will I face any other problem with 9800GTX when I use it with Abit IP35-E?

A 9800GTX while being a PCI-e 2.0 graphics card, will run perfectly fine in your PCI-e IP35-E. There will be no performance loss.

9800 GTX is not even close of filling the whole Pci-Express 1.1 bandwidth, so no performance hit at all.

Oh, come on man. Do you really trust this ? If some important site like anandtech.com or tomshardware would have point this issue, that was to believe. But an ukrainian site that has a slide from an AMD presentation means absolutely nothing. Even fudzilla has more credibility then this one.

no current card fills up the bandwidth on a 16x pci-e 1.1 slot. There is a chance that 4870x2 and/or gt200 will get there, but even that is gonna be a stretch. pci-e 1.1 is going to be very good for many years to come.

And I have tested a 9800GTX on a 790i and a 650i.
You also have to understand, ajaidevsingh, that along with PCI-e 2.0, the motherboards that house this also have a wide range of improvements. Improved chipsets, refined layouts for lower latencies, faster RAM support, not to mention newer CPU's. All these are sufficient to improve performance. Not JUST PCI-e 2.0.

Ok have just tested a p35 and G33 with almost the same hardware i got about 1 fps more on the P35...!! Now this is notting as compared to the link i gave so i think that you all were right alter all..!!!
