I didn't say I was buying one, because I am not. This was simply to show the prices.

Same here! Now if they could get the release date settled! I've been hearing it's pushed back to april 1st a lot, instead of the 25th.

That's a shame, but I guess one more week isnt much considering how much we've already waited.

BTW what is the difference between the three evga cards on that list? Looks more like a sloppy data entry to me... I hope that doesn't reduce the chance of those prices being real at launch.

I don't really mind when the release date is as I will probably be waiting at least 2 weeks after it comes out to check out reviews and such. Also need to find another card to throw in my PC while I wait for the step up.

Yeah that evga one for $310 is nice I paided $280 for the 8800 GT so it would be like $40 for me to upgrade My stepup ends april 30th so it better be out by then...

Surely it's just a misprint. EVGA cards have never been cheaper than the other ones like that.

They might be even cheaper than that. Check out a Google shopping query. One place has a PNY for $316 and another has an EVGA for $333. Usually these smaller sites charge more for cards not less....

Not true, the 8800GT launch was very similar with an 8800GT (stock), 8800GT SC, 8800GT KO, and 8800GT SSC.

The vanilla was lower than OC versions, the SC was market pricing, and the KO and SSC carried significant premiums.

Ah, good to hear, thanks for the correction. Any idea if the OC versions of the 9800gtx will be available at launch? Or do those come later?

Only $310? Dang, too bad both it and the GTS are G92 based, no real differences. Now if only we knew it was gonna be faster than the 8800GTS...

Edit: Heres how the clocks line up.

9800GTX: 675Mhz core, 1688MHz shader, 2200MHz RAM
8800GTS: 650MHz core, 1625MHz shader, 1800MHz RAM

We know it will be slightly faster. But we don't know it will be faster than a 1 year-old 8800ultra.

Spec wise it is faster then the GTS, at least @ stock speeds. Now the question is, is it $70-80 faster then a GTS?

It seems to have a great deal of overclocking potential, that should probably be factored into the value equation.

Not saying it might not be better than the Ultra @ 2560x1600, but it certainly won't be by much, which is a very sad joke for a card that's supposed to be the king of true single cards right now...

It may not be a giant leap forward, but at 300-350 I still say its a win for users who don't have unlimited money... Performance better than ultra at half the price.

I guess after the gx2 debacle we have to take whatever victories we can get, but still...

Popular opinion as we've heard for months now. I'm not happy with either camp's roadmap; but it is what it is. Multi-gpu solutions are where they've steered us. We either accept or regect it.

I spent $649 bucks on an 8800 GTX at launch and it filled the order in every way. A single gpu solution that screamed at all resolutions and wasn't bandwidth/memory limited. Today it's $600 bucks for multi-gpu solutions that clearly have disadvantages in comparison.

The only thing I remain peeved about is their decision to intentionally limit bandwidth performance. The 9800 GTX is a perfect example. But it's still a hell of an offering for the money. Despite all the gripes, it's going to sell. Like wildfire I'm predicting..
