When will these cards be released and about what price will they be? Would it be better to buy it right when it comes out or buy the 8800GT for cheaper when they come out and possibly even SLI the 8800?

better from what aspect? You could get an 8800GT now and another when the 9800's come out for probably pretty close to the cost of a 9800 at release and performance will be simlar depending on what resolution you game at and what games you run.

By better I mean price to performance. I game at 1680x1050 and I'm buying it so that I can play most of the new games that are coming out also right now I'm currently playing Call of Duty 4. Also wouldn't it be better to just hold out until the 9800GT is released since by then the 8800 will be much cheaper? Also, do you know if there will be any special features that the 9800GT will have the the 8800 won't?

I personally would wait for the 9800GX2 to be released and then buy the 8800GT and SLI them. You could probably do this for cheaper and get close to the same performance. Especially in COD4

you would very likely get nearly identical performance with 2 8800gt in sli to that of a 9800gx2. 9800gx2 is 2 8800gts's pasted together with slightly lower clocks, basically sli that you can run on any rig. A slightly down-clocked 8800gts should perform like...yep, you guessed it, an 8800gt. You can spend $380 right now and get 2 of those msi OC 8800gt cards at newegg with the dual slot coolers right now, that is significantly less than you'll be able to get a 9800gx2 for. Plus, with the OC on those cards you'll probably get BETTER performance than 9800gx2. :)

rollo said $449 a couple of weeks ago, but nordichardware seems to think that it'll be $599. Basically, it depends on the performance. If it's $449 then it's that cheap b/c it's close in performance to 3870x2. I would be shocked if it wasn't at least 10-15% faster, so $500 + seems likely. If it IS released at $449, however, then expect 3870x2 to rapidly drop to below $400, so we the consumer will win either way!

I think the main appeal of the 9800 cards will be better overclocking capacities (VR Zone reported 4 phase power design on the GPU and 2 power connectors meaning cleaner power) and of course the ability to set them up in Tri-SLI but I'm not sure if there are any other changes.

how much more overclocking than 20+% do you realistically expect to attain without adding voltage? They will have higher base clocks and probably WON'T overclock as well b/c nvidia will want to justify the jump to 9 series.
