I remember hearing that you could flash some 9800 se's to 9800 pro status and i was just wondering if anyone had a link or could provide me with some information on it as i recently got ahold of one. Its a powercolor with hy5du28322 ram of which i am not sure of the brand. Its the rd pcb and looks just like a 9800 pro.

I'd have a look over at the Rage3D forums. I don't have a 9800SE but I believe I saw a thread about the mod there.

If I'm not mistaken, you scored big time with the memory. I believe those are Hynix 2.2ns chips rated at 450MHz!

Yeah its definitely an se. And i think you are right that it looks like a 9700, i just pulled out my 9700 pro and compared and they look similar except for slightly different heatsinks.

oh ok... i thought you got a 9800np... that would be pretty cool... :D i think the omega drivers have that unlocking utility built in already. rage3d should have more info though.... not too familiar with the process. good luck. :)

hmm yeah i checked out over there and they explain the mod for the 9500-9700 so i guess it would be the same process.

And i highly doubt it is 2.2 ns ram, why would they waste such good ram in an se?

Check out this review of the 5900 Ultra, which appears to be using the same chips that you listed above: review. Same markings and they say the chips are rated at 450MHz, but they were able to OC them up to 485MHz (DDR970).

Use Rivatuner to unlock the extra 4 pipelines on your card. The FAQ explains the process, and there are some posts in the forum over there that will help, too.

Edit: Here's the download link: Rivatuner. Click on the documentation link (below the screenshot) for full details. Good luck!

Another, easier option, is to go to Omega Corner and get the omega drivers. They are based on the Cat 3.7 and include the 9800SE - 9800Pro mod as an option in the installation. Also included is Radlinker, an excellent overclocking tool.
Please let us know your results with the mod. I've been very tempted to try it out.
And where did you get the 9800SE? Is it the one clocked at 380/337?
Good luck!:)

Its clocked at 378/337.5 and i got it at fti computers.com. They took fricken forever to send it too me though so i dont know if id recomend them.

Well i just used the omega and it gave me a huge boost in scores. My aquamark went from 29000 to 42000 with a 5493 in gfx and my 3dmark03 score moved up to 5422 though i just realized i had aquamark minimized while i ran it so that might have decreased my score a bit. There was some artifacting in 3 mark03 in the cpu test of the one with the girl. I got some blue spotting that you could notice if you really looked. Ive heard that the mod has some problems with artifacting inder heavy load as the se's many time have faulty bridges or something. So im gonna try some af and aa and see if it gets too bad with those enabled.

Ill try some overclocking too to see what i can get out of it.
