9800 Pro vs 9800 XT

As per this discussion, some people have bought the Radeon 9800 Pro and flashed it to XT. That made it sound like a great deal to me... BUT... Im looking at this performance chart for video cards on Q3 arena and I see that the pro was actually marginally faster than the XT. Is this chart wrong? Will I really get a 12% boost if I flash a pro to XT? Thanks!

Basically I am choosing between a Gf 5900XT and a Radeon 9800 Pro moddable to XT. I am trying to see if the extra 80 bucks for the Rad Pro -> XT is really worth it....

The 9800 Pro is better than a 5900XT. If you can flash it to an XT it will be even better. If you are not willing to buy an NV40-based card, get the Pro.

why is the 9800 pro better? How big is the difference? Will a 9800 pro flashed to XT give me at least 25% more performance than the gf5900XT (that would make it worth the extra cash for me)?

Why the pro is better is rather a long story, you should read some reviews for that. As for the ablity to flash to an xt, it really isn't a big deal, a regular 9800pro shouldn't cost much more than a 5900xt.
