9800 pro = runs hot?

Well I was originally gonna get a 9600xt for my upcoming new build - but then I saw that the 9700 pro cards aren't much more. Now I see that the 9800 pros are only $11 more than the 9700 pros! I have to stop somewhere, so it'll probably be the 9800 pro. I won't be OCing, but I keep reading that they run hot even @ stock. Just how hot are they?

9800 pros don't have any chips on them that tell you temps but you can buy a chip that will do it for you. From my own experience they run hot. I needed to beef up my cooling to avoid artifacts at stock. Now that my case is cooler it runs great. At first I thought I had a bad card but it was just the cooling in my case.

all ati's tend to run really hot.. i do suggest better cooling because on stock cooling and stock clock speeds, mine overheated many times
