9800 Pro problem

Recently my video card seems to be "crapping out". I havent overclocked it at all or anything, and ive had for about 3 years now. Basically it suddenly started having spots of lines across the screen, evenly spaced every couple inches or so. There were about 30 or so little 1 inch by 1 inch blocks of static lines. When I opened it up to take the video card out I discovered that the card was EXTREMELY HOT. I checked to make sure the external power was connected, and then put in another video card, and it worked just fine. Has anyone experienced anything like this before, and/or does anyone know if this is a problem that can be fixed?

Thanks for any help.

Radeon9800pro is notorious for crapping out after 3 years in that way. I would contact the manufacturer and try to get a replacement shipped to you for free. Otherwise...consider stepping up to something new....though the AGP market kind of makes that a crummy price/performance gain. You can almost get a PCIe board and a faster videocard...for the same amount it takes to get an identicle AGP videocard.
