9800 Pro overclocking, safe to try?

I was thinking that I would like to dabble in overclocking my ATI 9800 Pro 128 for a few tests and then set it back to default speeds. But as some of you know these things run really hot at stock settings. I don't intend to mod the card at all with cooling because I would rather not. What would you guys suggest as the current best overclocking utility to use for a small overclock on this card?

I don't know anything about the situation save for the fact that I think you are insane for thinking you even temporarily need more than a stock 9800 pro.

I've been in kind of the same situation. I only overclocked it to see how that affected the benches. It's stock now, but I may overclock when all the new games start showing up, or the card isn't expensive anymore.

Haha, yeah tenoc. I post in one thread saying I would never overclock and now I feel like trying it, probably won't though. I was just looking for the best program to try it. My friend has his Gainward 5900U 256 now so we have a little competition going 😱

Use Radclocker. It adds an overclocking tab to your properties.
