Im in the market to buy a decent video card for a decent price. Im looking at buying either the Sapphire Radeon 9800 pro, or the ATI X700 Pro. The Radeon needs a fan and is $50 o.b.o, the x700 is $75 and was only used for 3 months.

I plan on playing some of the current games, Half life 2, UT2004, World Of Warcraft. Which would be the better choice for gameing. I dont really do any video editing just gameing.

They're pretty much... the same... get whatever comes out cheaper in the end. I have a X700 pro in my rig, and my brother has an identical rig with a 9800 pro... there isn't much difference.

Are you using AGP or PCI-Express?

I recommend you look @ something new if you can, like this 7600 PCI-Express

or

AGP x1600PRO

I dont think a 9800 Pro comes in PCI-e...8)

the 9800 pro is agp up to 8x i believe. My system doesnt support pci-e. Im not quite ready to move to that yet since i cant afford the computer i would like to build just yet. If i were to slowly piece a new one together i would probbly be in the same boat im in now where its all pretty much obsolete. so its a lose, lose situation untill i get a new job.

Have you looked around for a 6600GT? I've seen it for low prices, and it beats the tar out of the X700 Pro. It used to be the best midrange card back in the day. I think they should be right around your budget, too.

EDIT: hmm, looks like they are fetching for around $100... not as cheap as I thought. look into it anyway.
