9800 Pro/Non-Pro question

I bought a 9800Pro from Ebay. I got slightly worried when the packaging it arrived in had no mention of "PRO" on it. It was OEM so the packaging was just mainly a bubblewrap sleeve.

I just installed the drivers and all it says in "Display Properties" is Ati Radeon 9800. No where in the Display Properties or the ATi Control panel does the word "PRO" ever appear.

So, to those of you that have an ATi 9800 PRO, is this unusual? Should I be talking to the person I bought for....considering if it's just a 9800 it's fraud? How can I tell the difference between the two cards?

Thank you.

Take a look at the memory chips and see what the speed ratings are. Usually if it's something like 3.3, then it's a NP. I think the Pros are around 2.2... Best thing to do would be to just tell us what's on the chips and I'm sure someone with a little more expertise can confirm that for you.

how do I tell what the memory timings are?

The closest thing I can see are 4 black squares that say 'Samsung 313'

uh oh.... you have a 9800np lol

but no worries, my 9800np was flashed to a 9800 Pro and its running at 400/333 with no stability problems.

ebay...blehh

How was it flashed? 😉

Thanks for the confirmation. Time to really, really, really get pissed at the seller.

yeah sounds like you have a NP. If I were you, I'd definately have some "words" for this guy... especially depending on wether or not you paid a 9800 pro price for a NP.

ya, you definately got a non-pro. I bought my pro from ebay, but it was a sealed retail box. I don't trust anything other than that.
