Wee bit of a problem to pick your brains. Got the newegg sapphire 9800 pro oem today in the mail, popped it onto my kt7/duron 600 (oc to 850) as the 2600+ and nf7-s have not arrived yet to play with it. have a geforce2 mx in currently which works. when i put the 9800 pro in i do not get any video display at all whereas with the geforce2 mx i get a signal no problem.
stuff i've already done, upgraded to latest via 4in1 chipset, changed bios settings to default, switched agp to 4x, after all that failed, reflashed bios to the latest version(some version in 2002)
Thought it would be worthwhile to post here for other ideas while i continue to search for answers. Hopefully, the card isnt dead.. the fan does spin on powerup though. any ideas?

yes, the molex connector is plugged in as the ati fan spins upon power up.

I don't know anything about your MB . . .

My not-so-old Soyo TISU couldn't supply the correct voltage for the newer cards.

You DID remove ALL traces of the nVidia drivers?

planned to let this topic die since i started one in tech support also but oh well 8)
would nvidia drivers in the os make a difference as to whether i would get a video signal at power up? from what i've looked at, abit says kt7 has agp2 socket which fits the req's for the 9800 pro i read on ati's site.

SilentRunning,

Agp bus should not be overclocked, this system is multiplier only overclocked. also tested a known working molex connector.

Also ran through the bios settings on omegacorner. no dice. gonna try this on a dell gx270 tomorrow at work and see if it gets recognized there. if it doesnt there, might be time to call newegg.
Thanks for the ideas, keep'em coming if you got em 8)

no, the nVidia drivers shouldn't interfere with the signal at boot up . . .

My Soyo had the correct agp but wrong voltage - I had to rma my 8500 . . .
(the soyo tisu is one of the biggest POS MBs evar - so glad to toss it in the trash asfter Soyo's mindless "tech support")

test it in another computer and let us know what happened . . .

good luck

another thought - remove the card and reseat it

Hadn't even thought about it but what is the power supply rated. Can't remember wether they recommend a 300 or 350 watt for the 9800.

Either way, it's pure BS. Look at the Shuttles with 200W running them.

Yes, but that duron 600 may have a 150 watt or less power supply.

Somebody already mentioned this, but it bears repeating SINCE YOU SYSTEM IS OVERCLOCKED, IS THE AGP BUS RUNNING AT STOCK ? If not, clock to normal and try that FIRST !!!!!!

I mentioned earlier, my system is only multiplier overclocked. Bus speed hasnt been touched and is running at stock. Turns out others seemingly had problems with a kt133 mobo and this card. Only way to get it to work was to plug the molex power in a few seconds after booting up. seemed to be a rather drastic way of getting the card to work with potential electrical problems(hot swapping power... eek) but i tried it a couple times and was able to get the card to output signal. wierd i know, but rest assured, my system isnt going to be turned off until the new pc parts arrive early next week. I will say though, the graphic improvement over my original geforce2 mx is drastic 8) thanks for the ideas and links.

Sapphire 9800Pro + motherboard compatibility problem then? Glad to hear you solved it. I RMA'd 2 Sapphire 9800Pro cards back to Newegg, 1st one showed artifacts all over the place on different machines and 2nd one had texture problems at high resolutions. They sent me an ATI retail one which works fine now. Anywho, your crazy for hot plugging that 9800pro while your computer was on! I did that with a CDRW drive once and almost fell out of my chair as the shock came cracking out of the connector - I killed the drive.
