9800 pro low frame rates

I just got an ATI 9800 pro. I am running a 2500+ barton, 512 mb XMS pc3200 ddr ram, epox 8rda3+ rev 2 mobo, serial ata hard drive. It seems like I am getting kinda low frame rates for this setup. On Unreal 2003 I get 90 to 120 with it turned up on high and graphics card set on balanced. I get about 60-80 in NOLF 2, 30-40 in commanche 4. I got 15199 in 3dmark 2001, and only 2599 in 3dmark 2003. I have the latest catalyst drivers too. Any ideas?

Try manually adjust your AA and AF setting for games. 15199 for 3DMark2001 is good for a 9800Pro.

Make sure you've removed all traces of previous nVidia drivers and make sure you have the latest BIOS and chipset drivers for your system.

Ive got the Same System and a GeforceFX 5900 🙂 and i score 6000 in 3D mark 2003

2599 for an ATI 9800 Pro is not right at all it should be way higher !!!!

As soon as u fix your 3Dmark score you will know your system is running right .....

If i was you i would Get all the latest Drivers DX9.0b ATI 3.8 Drivers and Latest Nvidia Nforce2 Plus WinXP Pro SP1

1. FORMAT !!!!!!

2. INSTALL THEM ALL

3. Check Bios for AGP 8x and Fast right turned on and all other settings are right.

4. Run 3Dmark 2003 .. if you score 4500+ or more your system is fixed

I guess I shoulda cleared this up....I just built this system from scratch so everything was loaded fresh......I rma'd my 8rda3+ mobo and got rev. 2.x.....its much more stable...before I could hardly run at stock speeds and now i have overclocked to 3000+.....my scores are now 16149 in 3dmark 2001 and 6069 in 2003......but it still seems like my fps jump around instead of holding steady.....I turned off vertical sync and fastwrites (should I enable this?).....also i have overclocked my vidcard to 441 core 360 memory...is this ok with stock cooling? or should i cool better?

there may be a background program or a glitch in ur 3dmark install that is in conflict with other system drivers that is causing "freezes" during benchmarks. Do you get occasional "0" fps spikes?

No i have gotten any spikes yet.....but it just jumps around like from 50-100 in nolf2 and in benchmarks it jumps a little too......i just overclocked to 3200+ and went up to 6149 on 3dmark 2003....when i went back to default (2500+) it dropped to only 6063 (which is what it gets oc to 3000+).....does cpu speed not make much difference on the benchmark?
