9800 pro Install question (power cable)

Guys Im putting together my new system and I see that there is a molex cable coming off the card that can be disconnected. There is no information about this in the install manual. Does it need to be hooked up? Can I disconnect it?
 
You need to plug it in. Without that the card will not get enough power. I am surprised its not mentioned in the manuel. The manuel for my 9800pro AIW is very clear about that.
 
Thanks man I wasnt sure all the manual says is to seat the card its a sapphire so go figure
