9800 pro HDD power splitter

Gday, I'm ordering a new SATA hard disk, and throwing my old 5400 rpm IDE disk in another machine. The problem is that the power splitter that came with my 9800 pro was plugged in to the old HDD, and it won't fit onto my new SATA drive power cable. Can you connect a 9800 straight to the power supply, or will this be too much juice? Or do I need a SATA/IDE power splitter (if such a thing exists)?
