Built a new system on Tuesday, making a conscious effort to keep it as silent as possible... but I never even gave any thought to the fan on the ATI Radeon 9800 Pro. The whole rig has a total of seven fans (three on case, two on power supply, one on CPU, and one on the video card) and that little bitty fan is pretty much louder than the other six combined.

It's driving me nucking futs. Probably a stupid question, but can I just unplug it? Would it totally fry the video card (which I'm not planning to OC)?

Otherwise... I read about something called the VGA Silencer. Would that be worth looking into? (If so... anyone happen to know if Fry's carries those?)

Thanks.

No, you can't just unplug it. It's there for a reason. Go and get yourself the Arctic Cooling VGA Silencer.

No, you can't unplug it. Get a zalman zm80c-hp or a VGA silencer. The zalman is totally silent and fanless, the vga silencer is very quiet. Your choice.
