9800 Pro Dual Monitor Question

I recently installed a "new" 9800 Pro, and am running two monitors, both LCDs, one on the DVI and one on the VGA.

What I'm noticing is that on the VGA monitor, 2D performance is terrible. Windows are slow to open and close, video doesn't play -- or at least, it's extremely choppy -- and it's generally just annoying. 3D performance (as tested with FS2004) seems fine.

Any ideas? I've got the latest version of Catalyst.

thanks!

I think it sounds more like a memory problem than a video card problem. I never had any slowdowns running dual monitors with my 9800Pro, 5900, or agp w/ pci

It sounds like you didn't totally uninstall the old drivers from the 8500 before you replaced it with the 9800.

Uninstall your video drivers, run the newest version of Driver Cleaner and clear out all traces of ATI drivers.

Then, reinstall the Catalyst drivers.
