Just replaced my Nvidia 4600 with a 9800 pro on my system with an Apple HD Cinema Display with top resolution of 1920 by 1200. At many set resolutions such as 1600 by 1200, there are black portions on each side of the windows display that are unused. Have enabled the ATI button that" stretches display to fit monitor" but did not do zip. Happens in games too. SS2 at 1600 by 1200 shows black areas on all four sides as if I am viewing a window of the game (it is not in windowed mode). Very frustrating and ruining my enjoyment of this faster card. Is this normal for ATI cars or does it reflect an incompatibility with the Apple display. People have used 9700 pros on these monitors without problems or have they? BTW this is a widescreen monitor.

1600 x 1200 is not a widescreen format.

1600 x 1024 is, however, not supported by ATI cards. It SHOULD be by the Cinema display (check it out). Buy PowerStrip software to force the 1600x1024 resolution (if the Cinema supports) from the ATI card. Problem solved.

Most games don't support widescreen, so you'll just have to deal with that in games.

Thanks for the reply. Somehow some of my comments made it into my message title and that really confused things. My monitor is 1920 by 1200 and it is widescreen. But if they are not to be stretched like the 4600 did as a sacrifice for increased speed, so be it I guess.
