I installed the thing over a year ago (have had the card 2 years and one month), and never really had any problems. Recently, I've tried overclocking it, but I can't get very far without artifacting... Hell, when I run ATI tool at default clocks I see some artifacts on my black desktop background, but at 400/360 (where ATI Tool doesn't detect any anything, but there are a good amount of artifacts happening on the desktop). With case temperatures generally below 32C, and with the Silencer with fan speed on high, I'd have expected better results. Now, my question is, is it likely that the silencer isn't seated correctly, or would I have seen this earlier (i.e. would I have had some very noticeable effects between the time I installed it and now)? Or is my card just weak like that? I'd rather not go through putting everything back together if it's not likely to do anything.
EDIT-few other things, the heatsink does seem warm to the touch, and the fan had been buzzing a lot for a while until I took the card out and gave it a very thorough dusting, but it does appear to be moving air sufficiently. I only really started to notice this artifacting in-game with The Lost Coast.
