i don't know where your buying your 9600xt's, but they are regularly priced at around $169. so close but not quite less

Yup. The 9800 is still a good card, but I can't believe the prices are still over $150. ATI lost me because they refused to drop their prices. If you don't have a hard cap, spend another $70 and get a BFG 6800 OC.

Didn't the price on the 12-pipe X800 NP just get dropped down to $200? Not that you're going to find an X800 NP in stock anywhere soon (especially in AGP format), but $179.99 is way too much to pay for a 9800 Pro right now, considering the prices of the new midrange parts that equal or exceed the 9800 Pro's performance. It's almost worth upgrading to PCIe just to be able to buy a reasonably priced midrange graphics card (like a 6600GT for ~$190 or a X700 Pro for ~ $170).

I saw 6600 pcie for 110 at Newegg. Whats the equalvalent of that? 9600xt or 9800?

I am not flaming by any means, however I had a PS/2 Graphics Ultra Pro that died after almost 10 years. I called an got another overnighted to me.
