9800 Pr0 128MB overheating?

Strange i thought, and a real pain as it means i'm going to have to send my powercolor 9800 away again for who knows how long

in hl2 i've got bout 5-10mins before first textures lit-up by the flashlight, then usually just about everything goes wild with artifacts- case is cooled by 2x80mm exhaust fans above the kard & cpu/mobo temps are fine...

Serious sam takes much longer, usually a couple hours before artifacts start appearing, but its odd that i can run 3dmark05 looped 4 3 hours with no artifacts, and d3 doesnt produce ne either, same with every other game i've ever played

Ne way, comments/opinions/thoughts on this would b much appreciated, cheers folks!

EDIT:kard is stock speed/powercolor atireference hsf & the one time i fired up cs:source i got artifacts on havana- after i had them in hl2 in the same session

It seems that when I play CS: Source, I'm much more prone to artifacts than with other games. Especially on cs_italy. If I have my vid card o/c'ed high, I keep seeing these brown streaks appearing on my screen. I generally hafta use a more mild overclock when I play CS.
