I bought a dell 4600 from the business store a week ago for 630 after rebates with a 2.8ghz/800 p4 and a radeon 9800 non pro. I then put my old 2.0a p4 in the box and sold it honestly to a friend for 450$ sans-video :D

the bottom line is now my little combo is reporting everywhere that it has a 9800 pro. Any thoughts? I thought Dell didnt package 9800 pro's in 4600's. Is there any way to tell if I really have a pro? I know of no video clock utlilities... mb i should try powerstrip?

and on another thought... why was a 9800 available in the business store ;)

just something thats been bothering me :)

I wouldn't worry if you knew where to edit the registry. You could have windows call it anything you wanted.

Radeon 9800 is available in the buisness store for the small segment who actually use it for video editing. :D Now the question remains why do they sell the Dell GAMING XPS in the buisness store.......hmmmm maybe for the small segment who test video games for a living....... hehe, in any case as for your question about the video card itself, get the numbers of the card. RAM info, S/N, P/N, etc... With that in hand, you should be able to tell legitimately whether or not you have a real 9800 pro, or a regular 9800. Either way, you got one blazing fast video card.

got probably an almost identical configuration to what you bought last week. my setup reports a 9800 pro as well but it runs at non pro speeds. you can easily overclock it to pro speeds.

Ditto.
I have the same 9800 card. Install the 3.4 drivers and you should be able to clock upto pro speeds easy. It takes a bios update to get much higher though. Go dell. ;)
