I am setting here looking at my new Radeon 9800 np. I just got through reading many threads at the Rage3D forum from guys that are having heat problems with the 9800 from loose heat sinks. Naturally, I check mine and it is loose. I don't see any point of installing. Most customers are removing the HSF and either using Arctic Silver or such, or replacing with another brand HSF. That, of course voids tha warranty, and does not appear to me to be the proper solution to evidently many 9800 cards that are being shipped with loose HSFs. Surely the manufacturer must know that it has to be a near-perfect fit - heatsink to chip. I would appreciate comments as to how I should handle this.

Contact their tech support and ask about getting written permission to fix it youself w/o voiding the warranty. If there is no chance of it, you need to decide if you will RMA and wait, or live w/o the safety net. Peace.
