98/W2k Easy Sharing Question

TrevorK

Senior member
OK, at home I have 2 98 machines, 1 W2K machine. The 98 machines can see each other fine. All the machines can ping each other. However, the 98 machines do NOT see the W2K machine and the W2K machine sees neither of the 98 machines.

I think I followed the steps right, I created a user called "Trevor" on my W2K machine, set the share up, and logged into my 98 machine using "Trevor". I can't see my W2K machine still. I can ping each other, but I can't share files or anything. It must be something simple, help PLEASE?

Thanks
Trevor

Check basic stuff first. Do all three computers have netbeui installed? Double check to make sure they are all assigned to the same workgroup.

If they are in different workgroups, they will be able to ping each other and log into each other, but not see each other (check workgroup by right-clicking My Computer -> Properties -> Network Identification -> Properties)
