98 to 98SE Help

I need to move a PC from 98 first edition to 98SE. I've got a full copy of 98SE but when I try to run setup from Windows, it says it can't be done.

If I boot from a floppy and install 98SE will the apps I've got installed still work? Will dos hardware settings that I've got being set in the autoexec.bat still be there?

Is there an easy way to get from 98 to 98SE without formatting?

forgive me for asking but what apart from ICS do you expect to benefit from installing win98se in preference to win98fe?
this assumes you've got all the updates on your present install!

I've got an app that only works in 98SE that one of my usershas to have.

I think what bacillus was sayin, the comp with 98 1st edition, if updated through windows updates website, that pretty much is a 98se computer...2nd edition just added ICS, which you can't get through windows update anyway....so really there is no diff between a 1st and 2nd edition 98 machine....except for ICS....if updated properly.

It's called WinSNAP and is used in schools for selling lunches.
