98 Sebring stalling

So my girlfriend has a P.O.S. 1998 Chrysler Sebring convertible, and the car starts up fine, but about 10-15 minutes into her drive, the car cuts completely off and won't start again for about an hour. A mechanic friend said the catalytic converters were clogged so we fixed that, and still have the problem. Google searches say its either the throttle position sensor or something with the distributor. We don't want to sink much money into this thing, anyone have any experience with this issue?

We had the fuel pump tested recently but I'm not sure about the fuel filter, but with her not being car savvy I'm sure it hasn't been changed in her possession. If it was the fuel filter being clogged or just gone bad, wouldn't the car not start in the first place, due to lack of fuel to the engine?

Start simple. If it's getting clogged it might be cutting off fuel, then after it sits the sediment settles and allows fuel to flow again. A fuel filter is a cheap DIY replacement.

If that doesn't fix it, check your plugs/wires...might just need a tuneup.

If none of that works, it's time to get some codes from the computer as it could be any number of sensors, distributor, etc.
