Ok got my new system together and I was unable to find my SE disk (it was in the wifes car) so I just loaded 98 Plain. Now that I have the disk should I wipe clean now, and then install SE or just download the updates.(which I have already done).

Are there any GREAT features in SE that Plain is missing?

I am going to the store I will check back when I get back.

After you've done all the updates the only thing missing is Internet Connection Sharing if I'm not mistaken. I wouldn't bother.

Upgrade to 2k.

The lack of BSOD's is worth it.

Sorry, I like 98. You don't need the *added features* of SE...

Although I really love 95. It's so small and it doesn't need that much memory. It still is the perfect OS. :D

I've been running SE for a while, I can't remember the last time I had a BSOD. I had 98 for a while and even after several reformats (for spring cleaning purposes), I still got the occasional lockup and/or BSOD. Just my personal experience.

You can install SE over W98, just rename existing Win.COM if you get any errors about using it as an upgrade.

TuffGuy.....98Lite? That's the same combo I'm running....none of the stupid 'web' integration of 98, less HD space and way faster too.

OK gonna leave it for now. Just did all the updates now gonna do the reformat on the wifes system and set the 7200 RPM drive for Primary and set the 17.2 as shared file space for music, poictures and junk!
