98 or 2k w/ my POS?

4yr old MicronPC
·PII 450MHz
·256MB PC100 SDRAM
·16MB Voodoo3 2000 PCI
·10GB WD 5400RPM HD

I am currently using Win98SE but has mysterious lockups overnight every now and then. I'm considering Win2kPro but dunno if my machine will run any better. I normally focus on games CS, UT, OFP, etc.

Please advise

I run 2k on a box that is virtually identical to the system you are describing and I find it satisfactory. That said, 98 is still faster.
It really depends on what you want to do with the machine, but don't be overly concerned about 2k running slowly, it wont.
If games are your main thing, then 98 is the way to go, purely because there are no real decent vodoo 3 gilde drivers. 2k comes with its own drivers for V3 that are great with Direct draw, but Glide support is non exsistent.

think a step under that and thats what i have win2k running in. and it still plays all the games.
