Actually, I'm trying to buy this for my brother. He bought a real nice panasonic system for his 98 Honda Accord but obviosely the steering wheel controls don't work anymore as they were made for the factory unit.

I was surfin along the web and I saw these things which are supposed to allow you to use them again, supposedly they work with any deck that comes with an infrared remote.

here

Anybody have any experiance using one of these? Is it better to get it professionaly installed or can it be done urself?

Thanks for those links. My roommate and I were just talking about this possible problem last night.

Ah, get over it!

There's a good chance Panasonic made the factory stereo in your Scion. (It could also be Clarion, Alpine, Pioneer, Nakamichi, Delco, or someone else, but Panasonic does make a fair amount of factory stereos too.)

No, Mines a Pioneer, it says so on the front of the unit in big letters :)
