98 for gaming? (dual boot)

I'm a novice gamer who's been getting a lot of hand-me-downs lately... only problem, they don't run in Win2k. Ok, so I'll go dual-boot, no biggie... but, I've Never run 98 (I've always had the NT kernel... well, I guess I did play with win3.1 for awhile.. heh). Anyway, I'm Sure that there are sites out there that describe the ideal build for gaming (stripping out all the suprerflous crap).. to bad I can't find anything. Looking for links/clues/hints on what I can remove, and probably a little bit of how (though I'm fairly creative with the 'hows').

Note that I'm going to use 98 ONLY for games.. no internet browsing, no e-mail, nothing else.

If it's important, I'm running a Soltek MoBo, AMD1700+, 512k Crucial RAM, 200+GB of assorted HD space, ATI 8500DV and a PCI ATI Rage Pro (dual monitor), etc.. yadda, yadda... the compute isn't an issue (though backwards support might be.. guess I'll look into that).

Thanks for any/all help.

Have you tried running the properties of the executable in compatibility mode? What games? There is a Win98 Lite version (search Google.com) which strips out most of the bloat from a standard install, but your hardware is good enough that it won't matter.
