I was thinking that myself. I wonder if there is some kind of storage surcharge when you buy the gas up front? I'm sure the gas bank makes some money by the fact that they can buy in large bulk quantities when prices are at their lowest.

They don't store huge amounts of gas...

They take your money, invest in things they hope can get a better return than what is offset by the rise in gas prices. If they don't, they'll go out of business. On the other hand, if you buy a huge amount of gas$$, and the price drops, you're screwed, and they're happy.
