Awesome cars. I wish the insurance for me (in the UK) wasn't as high, or I would be driving a top of the range on right now! Mitsubishi do have VERY good reliability. So many people here speak out of their asses when it comes to cars.

Confused

According to J.D. Powers, Mitsubishi's initial 90 day quality is next to Kia in crappyness. After 3 years, its 5th from the bottom, beaten by hated companies such as Ford and Chrysler.

Mitsubishi's have below average reliability.

I'm also a Mazda fan and would go for the 626. After an accident I needed a replacement car quick. I picked up a POS 2 door 626 that was totally abused by its prior owner-the windshield was scratched because he never changed the wipers, for example. I got it with about the same mileage, kept it to 220k until it wore out with no major repair bills in between. Mazdas have always been easy for me to do most simple work on myself.

I've owned both Proteges (when they were known as GLC's) and 626's and I think the 626 is a substantial step up. I've always been surprised that the 626 doesn't get more respect than it does, but that's good in a way-the used car prices are cheap.

The Galant for sure. Those 2.4 liter 4 cylinders are GREAT engines. No joke. The tranny is pretty peppy and you'll have plenty of car for the money.

The irony is dripping off the walls.:D Thanks, Scouzer. I was gonna bust out the J.D. Powers survey, but you beat me to it.

Expensive to fix AFAIK.

If I was dropping 7 large on a vehicle right now, I would more than likely get a small truck.

Nah. The labor might be more since they're not as common but parts wise its about the same as any import. And really, if you get a non-trubo then it's just as reliable as an import; moreso then a Mitsu and not much worse then a Honda.

I don't get it. Both cars are POS. They'll both have the reliability of your POS Pontiac now. If I had to choose between the two and I had a gun to my head, I'd take the bullet between the eyes over either or.

You gotta look at specific models though, not the entire brand. I did a lot of research, I already said the only complain with that model 626, and I couldn't really find any complains about the Galant, other than some people thought the brakes wore out too fast. You can't EVEN say either are even close to as bad as the Grand Am....nothing will ever be as bad as all the sh!t I've gone through with that car. Also, I don't want an old high mileage car. A mitsu with 35K is gonna last longer than an Acura with 140K. Even if the Acura is a better car. And Nissans aren't worth their cost, no matter what the mindless fanboys on this site think.

btw, I drove them today, the Galant is looking like it could be the ticket, smooth as hell, extremely clean, great condition.
