If you were looking to purchase a motherboard in the next 3 months which would you buy. A motherboard that has a 975X chipset or a Nvidia 680i chipset. I am looking at a Core Duo 2 processor, and it has to have raid.

Any Suggestions.

Yea...... i would go 680i

only if i could afford it

get the asus striker

i would but i am only 12 and i cant shovel that much money from my pockets...

$400 for a mobo is way way too much. I don't care how special it is. The normal 680i from Asus will probably overclock exactly the same. Even that's expensive to me at $300

It can be had for about $320-350 if you look, just that no one has it in stock.

If you can wait upto 3 months, wait until there is more 680i selection (DFI, Abit maybe) and the BadAxe2 becomes more widely available. Also in that time DFI will release it's RD600 chipset -- quite possibly the chipset that inspired the 680i -- in otherwords ATI's 680i equivalent that's been delayed for over 3 months. It should be arriving sometime between now and Christmas and should overclock just as awell as 680i.

Yea true....... I would wait until more 680i boards come out..... I mean, there are only a few out now but later there will be a lot more...

but anyway..... definitely 680i

After reading all the reviews for the eVGA 680i MB, there is absoulutely nothing wrong with the eVGA. See vr-zone, exremesystems, and hardocp for the ratings. I bought one but have nothing yet to plug into it.

It's got BIOS issues out the wazoo. Many people can't get certain memory working and there's FSB holes (brickwalls). Basically it caps at a certain spot then you jump 5Mhz and it works again.
