Hey guys im new here, so i thought i'd start off with a noob question; I wan't to buy a laptop with 2x 970m SLI, but i'm wondering what the desktop equivalent is and what cpu is good with that.

I now have a GTX 560TI + 2550k CPU on my desktop , how much of a difference will i notice?

I also want to get a i7 4710MQ because it is cheap but i don't know if its good.
I'm a pre novice laptop gamer.

Is that CPU fast enough to run every game smooth in 1080p utra settings, or will it bottleneck?

Best regards,

Best regards,

The 4710 MQ is just as fast as your desktop in lightly threaded tests and a bit more in heavily threaded tests.

The 970m is a good bit faster than the 560 Ti with 970m SLI being more than twice as fast.

Personally, unless you have a reason to want a laptop, I would just upgrade your desktop. SB is still perfectly relevant and your chip is overclockable. Just drop a $250 290 or $330 970 in there.

Ah thanks for your reply,

Yes i have contemplated it, but i'm in dire need of portable computing.
It will be impossible for me to own a desktop pc.

Aorux X7 is probably the best balance of power, weight and performance for a 970M SLI notebook. It comes with the faster 4870HQ CPU.

970M SLI = Desktop GTX980, or 3X faster than GTX560Ti

The great thing about this laptop: 1080P IPS screen (none of that overkill 3K or 4K for 17 inch and no TN-crappy screen like on the MSI GS70 or GT72).

The biggest downsides to this laptop:

- Optimus doesn't work / not dynamic.
- As a result battery life when not gaming is poor
- Performance on battery is 3x worse than when plugged into an outlet
