I do agree that nVidia's drivers edge ATI's but I'm not certain the large performance rift in shader games is worth it.

The difference for me in farcry was 1024x768 vs 1280x1024 for 5950 vs 9800pro respectively, I'd imagine 9700pro would be at 11520x864.
Yes and I always run 2xAA/2xAF with the highest resolution possible.
CS:Source ran smoothly at 1600x1200 2xAA/2xAF on my 5950.

At the end of the review the 9700 Pro scored 26979 and the 5900 XT scored 25698!

That review paints an unclear picture.

-They compare HL2 with DX8 on the FX 5900XT while the 9700 Pro runs it in full DX9

-They benchmark Quake 3 (essentially a meaningless benchmark by today's standard) and further penalize the 5900XT by comparing the cards at 8X8 (AA/AF). The Radeon can only do 6xAA (or is it 4xAA on those cards?) , so it's got an unfair advantage in that one.

It does give performance in a couple of commonly played games though, so those results can have some use.

The HL2 results are fair, when used with the dx8 reflection patch the 5900 xt can deliver the same image quality as the radeon 9700 pro. What Quake 3 8x8 results?
