Ill start by saying im begining to hate ATI for there lack of tech support or online trouble shooting. But on to the issue at hand. When i hook up dell 2000FP's DVI i am starting to get real problems when trying to play games. For example... I can load CC generals but almost as soon as i get in my monitor goes nutz. Scrambled picture, ghosted images horizanle lines ,and more than not the screen will go black for a sec or 2 then return to other said problems. Tried toggling refresh rate, no avail. Lowering settings seems to help some but not much. Only happenwhen playing games. Switching back to analog cable solves the problem. I have also noticed that my performance in games has droped significantly. Can only reach about 50 fps in most games and get alot of hiccups when i crank up the card. Anyone else with simmilar problems? If needed heres specs for comp. Thanks in advance

On a side note, I am going gray at age 20 (started at 16). I also have a Radeon 9700 Pro. Statistical anomaly???

Out of my experiences ATI got the 8500 running flawlessly, but the 9500 and 9700 are still a little buggy all things considered. Just recently I tried installing a 9200 on a PIII 1300MHz with a Via chipset, and it was a no go. Just couldn't get it working right. An old Geforce2 Ti500 worked great.

Make sure you don't have any overclocking (or it could be underclocking depending on your previous video card) apps that may be seperate from an old driver set, but still active because it is third party, and did not get removed properly.

And that empty space in your post is freaking anoying.

Two quick suggestions: in the ATi control panel, try disabling vsync to improve performance in both OGL and D3D, and checking the box for high-res LCDs ("reduced blanking interval," I think it's called).

Sorry, no patience now, but maybe someone else will come along and explain the technical reasons for both suggestions. Or you can try searching the forum for answers.

Do you only get the garbled display in Generals, or in other games, too? No problems with your desktop/office work?

Edit: And welcome to these forums.

Well my Rad 9000 sits in a box, unused and useless due to constant lock-ups everything I tried failed to get the thing working. The sad thing is I now have to use a MX440.

Hmm are you using a Dual link DVI cable they are needed for 1600x1200 LCDs since they have a higher bandwidth then single link cables,I recommend a Belkin Dual link Pro series DVI cable,I`m using that with my 9700 and Samsung 191T for gaming and general use and I can`t say that I`ve had any problems.
