yes you can, but doesn't always work. I ordered a refurb 9700p from newegg, but it gave artifacts cause it was actually a failed flash :frown: Returned it to newegg and just bought a new radeon 9800 afterwards

well got it today did a quick check on my roommates system to make sure it works it does. now comes the question of overclocking. looks like I didn't luck out and get good ram chips I ended up with seom Infineon 3.3ns chips? any chance of getting pro speeds out of the ram?

I had a 9500np>9700 card with 3.6ns infineons a while ago. Rated at 278, they did 305 for me, close to pro speed 0f 310. Yours are 3.3ns, so they should be rated for 300.

The problem with the 3.3 Infinion RAM is ussually it lacked enough voltage to get high speed so GL. MAny peopel with those chips maxed out at 297 like my self.

I have a 9700NP flashed to a pro. I'm lucky though; I have the 2.8ns BGA memory on mine. It actually overclocks pretty insane. I'm at 355/340 IIRC, which comes pretty close to a 9800 I think.

$116 is an amazing price for a 9700NP, even if it can't reach pro speeds. I would be very surprised if the core didn't reach at least 330mhz though.

I bought a 9700 non-pro off eBay very recently. $103 including shipping.

Turned out to be the Samsung RAM and the previous owner had already OC'ed up to 9700 Pro speeds. I haven't pushed it any further to see how far it goes yet. It's already an impressive purchase, if I end up anywhere near SickBeast's speeds it's just gravy.

I would of sold my 9800np for 100-130 if I didn't bake the infinion ram lol.

I have a 9700 non pro running at 447 core / 315 ram (infineon 3.3). The ram ran at 335 for a little while but I messed up a bios setting on my motherboard and thought it was video related so I tore off the vref voltmod, 315 is basically fast enough anyway.
