Having a hard time finding a good comparison of the two... any got a link that shows the performance difference and the difference in the specs?
Thinking of upgrading and don't like the looks of the GeForce FX cards, so I may switch to ATI.
Opinions are welcome.

Here is a good review which shows that the non-pro is significantly ahead of the 9500 pro, but only slightly below the 9700 pro. Looks like the non-pro is the way to go. Then just overclock it to match or beat the pro version. I think I'll be doing that when I build my computer this summer.

ok, so i'm in the same position right now.. 9700 or 9700 pro.. sure u can oc the 9700np to pro speeds, but you could also oc the 9700 pro to...possibly higher speeds?? does the pro use faster memory? sounds like the cores are identical, no??

The 9700 np can indeed be clocked to Pro speeds, BUT remember that you are oc'ing to a stock 9700Pro, the 9700 Pro can be overclocked as well.

If you are going to buy either card and intend to OC both, the 9700 Pro will end up being a faster card.
