9700 pro vs. AIW 9800

Will I notice any difference in games if I move from the 9700pro to the AIW 9800? I don't really care about the extra features on the AIW 9800, I'm just concerned about games. I mainly play HalfLife2 right now. Thanks!

Why would you get an AIW9800 then?

The 9700pro is probably as fast as a plain 9800. A 9800pro would be noticeably faster.

Are you getting a good price or something because an AIW card is normally a lot more than a regular card.

There's not a whole lot diff between the 2 cards. I usually hear about 10% improvement with the 9800p. Seems to me some quote up to 30%, IIRC that's with higher AA & AF enabled. Presumably the 9800p version handles those features a little better than the 9700p.

9700pro is clocked at 325/620.
9800pro is clocked at 380/680 + it has a few core tweaks.

That should be noticeable. I don't think there was a plain 9800AIW, it must be a 9800pro AIW.

I agree... The only benchmarks the 9800 beats my card is in 'texture fill rates'.
(loading texture time I believe)

You might consider an overclock.
(replace the HSF unit, remove shim, DDR sinks)

.. even volt mod it,,,, like I did mine, 2mo ago.
my old NON-voltmod fsb was 360/340
(pretty much a 'standard' OC with air cooling)

Thanks for the input! I have a chance to trade cards for free. I was just wondering if it would be worth the trouble. It sounds like it won't make that much of a difference.
