9700 pro vs 9600 XT

Which of these two cards is better and why?

9700 pro is superior

9700 pro = 8 pipeline, 256 bit memory bus
9600xt = 4 pipelines, 128 bit memory bus

in theory, the 9700 pro is twice as fast (not taking into account clockspeeds)

gracias! that's just the information i was looking for. a friend (who claims to be a pc, mainly video card expert) claims his 9600 XT was a lot better than my 9700 pro because the clock speeds were so much higher. i tried explaining my 9700 had more texture pipelines but i didn't know off hand how many each card had.

oh well, he's just mad, he's gonna be even more mad when i get my x800. considering the fact he JUST got his 9600. thanks schaden

yeah lol..then u'll have 3x the pipes and nearly the same clock speed! (cant remember x800's speeds)
ownage.........even more so if u got a x800xt......4 times the pipes will be total domination

well.. depending on what i can actually FIND. i either want the x800 XT or the geforce 6800GT. from the benchmarks i've seen, the GT actually outpreforms the x800 pro. If i find the x800 XT though, i'll be all over that like a pack of dogs on a 3-legged cat!

even a 9700 non-pro@275/275 is faster than any 9600xt

But considering 9700pro and non pro are $5 apart in price, 9700Pro is way better.

the 9600xt is comparable to the 9500pro.
the 9500pro is only diff from the 9700pro by its 128bit mem rather than 256bit for the 9700pro. so thinnk of it like that.
