9700 pro shim removal??

I just got an vga silencer and the instructions show the heatsink being mounting on an ATI core without the shim that is on my 9700 pro...

they make no mention of whether or not your suppose to try and remove it.

This shim around the core seems to be on it very solid so if i do have to remove it HOW?

Basically, if the shim is above the core, you might wanna remove the shim.

Thank you for a fast responce i didnt see that thread in my search.

Im going to go with what the one guy did and resess the vga silencer where the shim is with a grinder. Better to mod the $13 part then the $220 card.
