Hi,

I'm thinking about building a new system and I want to use the 9700 PRO, but was wondering if anyone knew of a list or link to a list of games that don't run well on it.

Just thinking ahead, and I want to make sure I can play my favorite online game: Novalogic's Delta Force Land Warrior, besides working 12 hours a day...I have to have some fun.

Thanks,

Mitch

Go to rage3d.com forums and you'll see all kinds of people that have problems with nearly every game out there.

I can't run a single 3d game with mine yet, without crashing. Hope to soon.

Out of about twenty games, the only one I've had problems with is C&C Generals (keep getting booted out after a while)... I think it's the games fault however. To the poster above, please do not insuate that the 9700 has a lot of problems. You either do not know what you are talking about, or are an nv fanboy.

All I know is that every game I have seen running under the 9700 Pro looks amazing and very "organic".
I have to have one.

Sounds to me like your PSU is inadequate - I am a longtime nVidia user, but have had zero problems with my 9700 Pro with any app I have tried.

450watt Thermaltake P/S. Don't think that's the problem. I've tried every single thing I've found to try on Rage3d.com, with no luck.

thermaltake makes powersuplies? or is it just branded thermaltake and made by someone else?

ohh and as for the topic, only trouble i have had is gta3 which is not exactly easy to get running well but with the right dll hook it works alright. it seems prety obvious that is rockstars fault though.

The box was Thermaltake, and it has Thermaltake on the sticker. Either way, I have more than enough power supply, so that's not my problem.

not nessacarly, wattage rateings can be very deceptive. heck, even if they are good powersuplies that doesnt mean you could not have got a bad one, same goes for the card as well tough.

We'll see, I have another RMA card coming........the first RMA they sent me caused my computer to not even turn on. :(

Oh, and I changed over to the Thermaltake power supply trying to fix this problem.....I also had it with my Antec 300 watt.

There's a guy over on the Rage3d forums named Hellbinder who seems to know what he's talking about and he claims that there is some problem with the Radeon 9700 Pro where it won't run games like Doom 3 quite as fast as it should. Other people said that the Radeon 9800 will correct this.

Has anyone else heard about this?

perhaps you are overclocking your system, could even be your ram timming too, or it could just be a defective 9700.

i know about it, yes. but it is not that the 9700pro will be slow in doom3 by any means, only taht the 9800 has improvements that will make it faster even while running at the same clockspeeds.

I never had any problems with mine either, just some graphical 'glitches' and the 3.1 CATs fixed those. SC4, UT'03, BF'42, MOH:AA/AAS, C&C Generals all run fine for me.

yeah, i read that thread too. it isn't really a "problem", the 9800 will just improve the performance of a certain rendering component (shadow stencil, or something).
