I just installed my 9700 Pro and in the display properties it shows as only being a 9700. Is this correct or did the store I bought it from screw me?

Check your core speed and memory speed.... make sure it matches for your particular model of 9700 pro. That's the only difference between Pro and non-Pro. Pro is faster

My pro shows up as 9700 in drivers...no biggie...just check to be sure that your core is 325 and your memory is 350.

sorry to scare you, the memory really should just be 310 :D

Bastard... :Q

hehehe Yeah. It's at 310/325.. What really freaked me out at first was my 3dmark score. Only 7900. Then I noticed a few things were maxed out in the display properties, so I turned them down and got 13,191. :D Now the tweaking begins...

I am new to the external video card market as my last system had an integrated graphics chip.

What is the best way to get the most out of the radeon 9700pro? I don't think that I will overclock it or my CPU but you can tell me about it if you want.

Sorry if this seams like I am jumping on your post but I am asking you specifically since you mentioned tweaking.

I thought the 9700 pro was the 9700? and it's 350/620 i think, so 325/310 cores. I'm sure the mem is 620 at least, according to some site or other, but rated at 700, so 350 should be possible for an oc.

The best way to get the most out of it is to know the most about it. Read all the reviews and find out what the strengths and weaknesses are.

For instance if you read Anand's articles on the 9700 you'll find that the image quality of 8xAnisotropic filtering in 'quality' and 'performance' modes looks about the same.

read, read, read :)
