Just got my 9700 Pro and I get colored bars at post. It seems as though the system is booting, it's just not able to display properly. I have to put the G4 back in to get to the BIOS. Speaking of the BIOS, I have tried many settings changes as related to AGP and Video as well as FSB. I also updated the BIOS and tried safe default settings to no avail. The card has power. I installed the card fine in the other rig which is running Soyo Dragon +. I have also tried removing all other cards, moving RAM, using DVI adapter on second video out. It seems it has to be the MB. Really could use some thoughts of wisdom.

XP 2000 133 FSB
Corsair XMS2700C2 166x2

First off, remove any overclocking utility you might have loaded for the Gf, remove the drivers (use det destroyer, or some other method as well as normal removal) Disable Fast Writes in bios, set AGP to 64mb.

I was very careful at removing all Nvidia traces I thought (even manually purging the registry), but after many different Dets my system just sucked until I formated and reinstalled XP.

I'm hitting 16k now on my 9700, and the IQ is very, very nice. I'm pleased with my purchase so far. Nice to see them back again.

ciparis 3 posts down might be you need to do the same

ati cards if (upgrading from another card and after ridding the system of old driver remnants) need to be set to a standard agp adapter with default drivers and rebooted before loading the new drivers then reboot again-this has fixed many of my ati problems and since i made this a practice first thing now i have no problems except sblive conflicts awhile back lol

hope this helps

if not even posting, does the MB give the no video beep code? or any beep code?
It could be a DOA. it happens.
I can't see how OS stuff like drivers would effect POST.

Thanks for the tips everyone. After replacing my Antec 400W PSU with an Enermax Whisper 430W the system is working.

Thanx again.
