97 Ford Taurus: Will a double DIN stereo fit into the dash?

I can't seem to find out where to get this information. Anyway my buddy just got a 97 Taurus which only came with a cassette deck. I have the 2x DIN CD player I just took out of my Bravada(it is a factory Delco II stereo, and I think it's double din..it's much larger than a standard one but I don't know if there's 1.5 din as well), and I was wondering whether it would fit into the Taurus. I haven't seen the car yet so I don't know by looking, and he's not sure of the size.

Anyone know if this will work? Or any thoughts at all.

IIRC, that year Taurus is a pain in the ass as far as stereos go. The stereo and climate controls are all integrated into one big panel. In checking Crutchfield, only single DIN size stereos will work and they send you a kit to integrate the climate controls with the new stereo.

Ugh, that sounds like a PITA, even with a single din. Guess I'm off to eBay with this thing then.

thanks for the info, bunker.
