The weather is starting to drop below freezing now. My car has also decided to produce this noise. I can't really describe it so I took a video. The noise is really noticeable around 17 seconds. Definitely haven't heard this before. My oil level is fine. Should I bring it to my mechanic next week? I drive my car a lot and would hate to see it blow up if I used it knowing I could've prevented it.
The sound eventually goes away, maybe after 15 minutes of driving. But I can notice it with the acceleration on the car and at Idle. Doesn't sound pleasant to the ear at all, but then again may be normal for the engine due to the cold? Sounds like grinding to me but then again...
Thanks

Heres the video

sounds like something's loose and vibrating with the engine. a loose metal covering maybe that expands when you warm up?

Does it get louder when you rev the engine?

It's really hard to tell from that video - it could really be anything from a belt tensioner pulley to something internal.

If you have a 1-2ft long metal stick or rod you can put one end against your ear and carefully put the other end on parts of the engine and engine bay to try and locate the source
