Important Saftey Recall Notice: Prelude Ignition Switch

Dear Prelude Owner:

This Notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Saftey Act

What is the reason for this notice?
Honda Motor Co., LTD has deteremined that a defect relating to motor vehicle saftey exists in the ignition switch on certain 1997 - 99 Preludes.

Electrical contacts in the ignition switch can wear prematurely due to high electrical current passing through the switch. Worn out ignition contacts could cause the engine to stall without warning. Although the engine will restart in most cases, if your engine stalls while driving in traffic or at highway speeds, you're at risk of being involved in a crash. Difficulties starting the engine (for example, hard-to-start, stalls immediatly after starting, etc.) may indicate that the ignition switch is failing.

Anyone else get this and is actually having problems with that Ignition switch??

Would this include the entire ingnition assembly so that I would have to get a new key (and have one for the door and one for the ignition :disgust: ) or would I probably get to keep my old key?

I think they just redo the wiring under the key so you can keep the current key, I hope they don't have to rip out all the key holes in my car that would be nuts!
