I have put a system together with the above mobo and is running with 2 HDD and 1 combo cd/dvd as follows:

1. Raptor 74gb SATAI (05 version), running on SATA0
2. Seagate 80gb SATAII, running on SATA1
3. Lite-on DVD, SATA, running on SATA2

All the above running on the intel chipset (the gigabyte one is disabled).

There are two options on the bios.

SATA RAID/AHCI Mode, disabled

SATA Port0-3 Native Mode, disabled.

On the windows all the above devices are reported as Ultra DMA 5. From what i know UDMA 5 is ATA133?

Are the SATA drives run at their maximum bandwith and if not are these BIOS options make a difference?

I have changed the native support to enabled but i have seen no difference.

I have installed xp pro on the drive so any changes on the above options for bios will require to re-install?

Thanks for your help

I would switch the 80 gig drive to the sata II port. Install the sata II driver before making the switch. Most boards don't read the sata driver speed correctly, so ignore the ultra dma 5 reading. Just be sure you have the correct drivers installed, and you'll be fine.

As far as i know all the sata ports of this board are SATAII??

Yes, all the ports on the DS3 are SATA2.

I currently run just 1 HDD and 1 SATA DVD Burner and I have no problems.

Maybe later after I get home from work I can check my bios setting and help a bit more.

i don't have any problems as such...

however it would be good if you can check what the devices are detected as under the device manager in xp...
